This past weekend, Jihye and I went to Napa Valley with some old and new friends. The weather was perfect, mid 80s, clear blue sky, and a gentle breeze. Our first stop was V. Sattui, the most decorated winery in Napa Valley that prides itself for not selling its wine anywhere except at the vineyard premises. If you want V. Sattui wine, you have to visit the vineyard or become a wine of the month member.
Since some of our friends were already members, we were able to go to “the cellar”, an underground tasting room reserved for members only. We had some fantastic wine. It was so good, we became members on the spot. Some of our favorites include the Sattui Family Chardonnay (clean finish), Sattui Family Red (an Italian red with a fruity taste at the tip of the tongue), and the Morisoli Cabernet Sauvignon (Jihye absolutely loves this one).
Afterwards, jihye and I went to my company’s annual employee appreciation “gala” at the California Academy of Science. It was open bar with plenty of wine, but we both agreed after drinking so much good wine in Napa, it just didn’t hit the spot. So instead, we drank water for the rest of the night.
